Tapestry at Battle wins LABC Warranty Site Recognition Award
Rother DC Housing Company’s (RDCHC) housing development, ‘Tapestry’ in Battle, East Sussex, is in the running for a prestigious national construction prize this year after achieving a Site Recognition Award from LABC Warranty.
The award forms part of The Bricks Site Recognition Awards which celebrate developers and site teams across England and Wales that consistently achieve high standards in workmanship and site management. Winners are selected each month by LABC Warranty risk management surveyors during their site inspection visits.
Sites are recognised for workmanship, health and safety, tidiness and organisation. From the monthly winners, a shortlist of regional sites is chosen to go forward for The Bricks’ annual award trophy.
The achievement at ‘Tapestry’, the name inspired by the Bayeaux Tapestry which tells the story of the Norman Conquest of 1066 which sealed Battle’s place in British history, marks an important milestone for RDCHC and reflects the collaborative efforts of the project team, working in partnership with Greymoor Construction.
Richard Thomas, Chair of Rother DC Housing Company, said: “We are delighted that Tapestry, our first major residential development in the Rother District, has been recognised by LABC Warranty. As we prepare to release the first homes for sale, this award is a testament to our strong partnership with Greymoor Construction and their consistent dedication to delivering safe, well-built, and sustainable homes.”
Located in the historic town of Battle, Tapestry forms part of RDCHC’s wider programme to provide high-quality housing that meets local needs while maintaining strong construction and safety standards. The 200-home development, comprising 130 homes for shared ownership and affordable rent, is scheduled to be fully completed in the autumn of 2027.
Ruairi McCourt, Portfolio Holder for Housing, said: “Rother District Council is proud to see the Tapestry development acknowledged with an LABC Warranty Site Recognition Award. As the sole shareholder and lender to Rother DC Housing Company, we are committed to supporting high‑quality, well‑managed housing delivery across our district. This achievement highlights the strong partnership between RDCHC and Greymoor Construction and reflects the high standards we expect for homes being built for our communities. We look forward to seeing the project continue to progress and to the positive impact it will bring for residents in the years ahead.”
Graham Morris, Managing Director of Greymoor Homes, said: “We feel very proud that the high standards we place on quality homes construction have been formally recognised by the LABC Warranty through this award. This honour distinguishes Tapestry amongst the very best developments in the country, and we hope to progress to the national finals.”
LABC Warranty works in partnership with Local Authority Building Control (LABC) to provide building control and warranty services across England and Wales. Nominees for the LABC Building Excellence Awards Grand Finals for 2026 will be announced later this year.
